Manchester: Moving a step closer to a semi-final berth, India on Thursday posted an emphatic victory against the West Indies, trouncing them by 125 runs.
India now has 11 points in its kitty and needs just another win to enter into the knock-out stage. It has three more games to play.
With today’s victory, India has ended West Indies world cup sojourn.
Electing to bat, India scored 268 for 7, thanks to the half-centuries by skipper Virat Kohli and M S Dhoni.
The target set was well within the reach of the West Indies, but the Indian bowlers gave them little room for comfort. The side was bowled out for 143 in just 34.2 overs. Mohammad Shami just gave away 16 runs in 6.2 overs and bagged 4 wickets.
