India Records Highest Single-Day Spike Of Over 18,000 COVID Cases

New Delhi: The country registered its worst single-day spike of over 18,000 cases of COVID-19, pushing India’s total tally to 508,953, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.

According to the ministry, coronavirus cases increased by 18,552 between Friday and Saturday morning, while the death toll climbed to 15,685 with 384 new fatalities in that period.

Also, 10,244 patients were declared cured in a single day, the ministry added.

So far, the number of active cases in India stands at 197,387 while 295,880 people have been discharged from hospitals, taking the recovery rate to 58.13%.
