New Delhi: India has reported a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With 1000 new cases, the active cases in the country now stand at 7,367. As many as 273 people have succumbed to the deadly virus so far, according to the data updated on the health ministry website.
Maharashtra reported the maximum 187 new cases on Saturday, taking the state’s tally to 1,761 with 166 deaths. Meanwhile, New Delhi jumped to second spot with 1,069 cases up by 166 with 5 deaths.
According to official data, New Delhi has designated 2,406 beds for COVID-19 patients. With the situation further deteriorating in the national capital, according to doctors, the government will have to designate more hospitals for treating the virus-infected patients.
Among the 166 new cases in New Delhi, 128 are related to Tablighi Jamaat event in March.
