India Reports Over 64K New COVID-19 Cases; Tally Crosses 27.6 Lakh

New Delhi: The COVID-19 tally in the country surged past 27.5 lakh to stand at 27,67,274 on Wednesday with the addition of 64,531 cases in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 1,092 more fatalities were reported overnight in the country, the Union Health Ministry informed.

On a positive note, the fatality rate has dipped below 2 per cent and stood at 1.91 per cent with total 52,889 COVID-19 deaths.

About 73.64 per cent (20,37,871) people have recovered, including 57,937 patients in the last 24 hours, while 24.45 per cent (6,76,514) are still under treatment.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 3,17,42,782 samples have been tested in the country so far, including 8,01,518 on Tuesday.
