New Delhi: In a significant announcement, US ambassador to India Sergio Gor said on Monday that New Delhi will be invited to join Pax Silica, a US-led strategic initiative aimed at securing critical supply chains spanning silicon, advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence.
He also emphasised continued engagement between the two sides.
“Real friends can disagree but always resolve their differences,” he said, adding that “both sides continue to be actively engaged.”
Reiterating his country’s intent to move forward on economic negotiations, Gor said, “We are determined to get a trade deal,” and indicated that talks would continue without pause.
“The next round of calls on trade will happen tomorrow,” he said, as reported by News18.
“Pax Silica is a US-led strategic initiative, from critical minerals to advanced manufacturing,” Gor said.
“Today, I am pleased to announce India will be invited to join the grouping,” he added.
Pax Silica is a US-led strategic framework designed to build a secure, prosperous and innovation-driven silicon supply chain, covering everything from critical minerals and energy inputs to advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence infrastructure and logistics.
Rooted in deep cooperation with trusted partners, the initiative aims to reduce coercive dependencies, protect materials and capabilities foundational to artificial intelligence, and ensure that aligned nations are able to develop and deploy transformative technologies at scale.
The initiative is positioned as a positive-sum partnership. Rather than isolating other countries, Pax Silica focuses on coordination among partners that seek to remain competitive and prosperous in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
The inaugural Pax Silica Summit convened stakeholders from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Australia.
Guest contributions were also received from Taiwan, the European Union, Canada and the OECD.
Together, these partners host some of the most important companies and investors driving the global artificial intelligence and semiconductor supply chain, forming the backbone of advanced technology development and deployment.
The initiative reflects what US officials describe as a new economic security paradigm, shaped by a growing consensus that secure supply chains, trusted technology and strategic infrastructure are indispensable to national power and long-term economic growth.
“Great to be back in India! Incredible opportunities ahead for our two nations,” Gor (38) said after landing in New Delhi.
US president Donald Trump has described Gor’s appointment as central to strengthening “one of our country’s most important international relationships,” the strategic partnership with India.
