India Vs Australia: 2 Pitches Kept Ready For World Test Championship Final; Know Why

London: Team India will be looking to complete unfinished business when they take on Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval from today.

Two years after the Virat Kohli-led team lost to New Zealand in the inaugural WTC final at Southampton, Rohit Sharma’s men will try to set the record straight vis-à-vis India’s barren run in ICC competitions since 2013.

Even as both teams have been preparing hard and trying to finalise their final XIs keeping in mind the playing conditions, there was a disturbing element ahead of the big finale.

Oil protesters have threatened to vandalise the pitch and ground during the WTC final, as a result of which the International Cricket Council (ICC) has kept two pitches ready, just in case, reported ANI.

Security has been increased manifold at the Kennington Oval cricket ground in south London. The ICC has also made changes in section 6.4 of the Playing Condition rule, making an alternative pitch, according to an ICC source.
