Houston: Shri Thanedar, an Indian-origin millionaire businessman and scientist, has been elected to the House of Representatives in Michigan, United States, with a whopping 93 per cent votes.
Thanedar said he will focus on issues of water shutoffs, foreclosures, crime and unemployment plaguing his area, PTI reported.
“Conditions are really bad and nothing has changed in years… I understand the pain of poverty, I’ve slept and ate on the floor, with no running water,” said the 65-year-old Democrat, recalling his upbringing in India.
