Bhubaneswar: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Friday inducted fast patrol vessel (FPV) Adamya into its fleet, strengthening coastal security along Odisha coast.
The first ship of the eight in series Adamyaclass FPVs was formally commissioned at Paradip Port by Satyajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary (AF & Policy), Ministry of Defence, in the presence of Inspector General Yoginder Dhaka, TM, CoS Headquarters Eastern Seaboard, and senior dignitaries of the central and state government.
The FPV has been designed and built indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited to strengthen India’s maritime might under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It has been designed for round-the-clock patrolling to prevent infiltration, combat piracy, and rescue those stranded in deep seas.
