Indian Film Industry Mourns The Loss Of Actor Extraordinaire

Mumbai: Actor Irrfan Khan breathed his last on Wednesday fighting cancer for four years. The 53-years-old actor was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital on Tuesday. He is survived by wife Sutapa Sikder, and sons Babil and Ayan.

Here is what the industry had to say about the star who had worked in Hollywood as well:

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan called the news “disturbing and sad”, added Irrfan was “a prolific contributor to the World of Cinema” who “left us too soon”.

Director Shoojit Sircar who worked with him in Piku, had the following to say:


Filmmaker Apurva Asrani called Irrfan “one of India’s greatest talents”.

Actor Priyanka Chopra tweeted a photograph with Irrfan.

Kay Kay Menon shared a quote by Irrfan about his wish to “entertain people but with some substance”.

Life of Pi co-star and cinema legend Kamal Haasan also echoed the same feeling stating that his work always left him in “awe”.
