Indian Navy Conducts Multi-Agency Military Exercise Along Odisha Coast
Paradip: The Indian Navy on Tuesday started a two-day multi-agency military exercise along Odisha coast.
According to sources, more than 18 different departments are participating in the exercise named ‘Sagar Kabach’ along 480-km coast from Dhamara in Bhadrak district to Gopalpur in Ganjam.
Besides Indian Navy, personnel from Indian Coast Guard, Marine Police, Fire Brigade, Odisha Police, Forest department, Customs, Pradip Port, CISF and ODRAF are actively involved in the exercise.
All the personnel have been divided into Red and Blue teams. They are frequently going into sea and checking the fishing boats and the vessels. On the first day of the exercise, the Blue team captured 4 members of the Red team from Paradip, 2 from Dhamara and 2 from Astarang.
It may be noted that military exercise along Indian coast has been conducted several times in a year to check the efficacy of the measures to ensure coastal security. It was started following the attack on Mumbai by terrorists who had come on sea route in 2008.
