Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Divya Shandilya struck silver in Women’s Hammer Throw at the Indian Open athletics meet at Punjab’s Sangrur on Monday.
The 27-year-old Divya, of Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel, finished second with an impressive throw of 58.31 metres, behind gold-medallist Manpreet Kaur (59.79m).
World U-18 Championships silver-medallist Damneet Singh won the Men’s Hammer Throw event with a personal best effort of 69.87m.
Two-time Olympian Tajinderpal Singh Toor topped the Men’s Shot Put event. National record-holder Toor, a two-time Asian champion, achieved 19.51m throws with his last two attempts.
