Indian Techie Shot Dead In The US While Resisting Robbery Attempt At Fuel Station
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old Indian techie was shot dead by an unknown person when he resisted a robbery attempt at a fuel station in Ohio state’s Columbus, USA.
The deceased, identified as Veera Saiesh, was from Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru.
Veera would have graduated with a Master’s degree by the end of this month. He had taken up a part-time job as overnight clerk at the gas station where he was killed.
“We received the information on Thursday night. We have requested the Government of India to help in bringing home the mortal remains,” Saiesh’s uncle told reporters.
He said an armed man attempted to rob the fuel station where Saiesh worked.
“When he resisted the attempt, the assailant opened fire at him before robbing the cash chest,” his uncle informed.
Saiesh was immediately rushed to a hospital, but was pronounced dead after a while.
Columbus Police have released photos of the suspect and appealed to the people to share any information about him.
Saiesh, who used to live with his mother and elder brother in Eluru, left for the US in November 2021 to pursue his Masters.
An acquaintance Rohit Yalamanchili has set up an online fundraiser Saiesh’s family with funeral expenses and other supporting costs.
“This includes the very expensive process of carrying his mortal remains back to India, so his mom can say goodbye one last time to her beloved son,” Rohit wrote on Facebook.
