Bhubaneswar: Thousands of KIIT and KISS students had gathered to watch the live telecast of Chandrayaan-3’s landing.
As the Vikram Lander touched down for a flawless soft landing on lunar surface at 6.04 pm on Wednesday, exuberant celebrations filled the air in two campuses as students and staff soaked in the historic achievement of India’s successful Moon mission.
The enthusiasm of around 60,000 students of KIIT and KISS knew no bounds as they cheered, shared greetings and exchanged sweets.
In keeping with the wishes of founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, administrations of KIIT and KISS had made elaborate arrangements to enable students, faculty and staff to witness the historic event in real time.
Digital display boards and television screens were set up across the campuses, where students, faculty and staff gathered in huge numbers.
Earlier today, KIIT and KISS students engaged in various activities leading up to the landing, extending their heartfelt wishes to the team of ISRO scientists which was behind the lunar mission.
The national Tricolour was on display all over the campuses, and the corridors echoed chants of unity and patriotism, such as ‘Om’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
Students at KISS took part in puja and yajna at the revered Jagannath Temple (Bani Kshetra) to pray for the success of the mission.
Teachers joined their students in extending best wishes to the scientific community involved in Chandrayaan-3 mission.
