India’s Becomes Third Worst-Hit Nation As COVID-19 Tally Nears 7-Lakh Mark
New Delhi: India overtook Russia to occupy the third spot in the list of nations worst-hit by coronavirus, adding more than 24,000 cases on Sunday.
India logged a single-day spike of 24,248 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 6,97,412 on Monday.
As many as 425 patients succumbed to the infections during the same period, taking the death toll to 19,693, the Union Health Ministry informed.
On a positive note, recovery cases (4,24,432) have surpassed the active cases by 1,71,145.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 99,69,662 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 1,80,596 on Sunday.
According to America’s Johns Hopkins University, Russia has a caseload of 6,80,283. India is now after USA with 28,76,143 cases and Brazil with 16,03,055.
