New Delhi: India witnessed the biggest spike in COVID-19 death with 73 people succumbing to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 1,007, according to the Health Ministry.
While the country has 31,332 corona patients, 7,696 people have recovered from the virus. The recovery rate has jumped to 24.56 per cent.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected by coronavirus. With 729 fresh cases and the highest single-day death count of 31 on Tuesday, the affected tally in the state now stands at 9,318.
Gujarat has reported 3,744 cases so far while Delhi has crossed the 3,300-mark.
However, the doubling rate has slowed down to 10.9, the ministry added.
