IndiGo Flight To Varanasi Evacuated At Delhi Airport After Bomb Threat
New Delhi: Passengers of a flight from Delhi to Varanasi had to be evacuated through the emergency door after a bomb threat was reported on Tuesday.
The Delhi Fire Service reported a bomb threat on IndiGo flight 6E2211 from Delhi to Varanasi at 5:35 am. The pilot saw a piece of paper in the lavatory with the note “bomb blast @ 30 minutes”, following which he informed the control room, PTI reported.
QRT soon reached the spot and evacuated the passengers through the emergency door. The aircraft was then moved to an isolation bay for inspection by Aviation security and a bomb disposal team, but it turned out to be a hoax.
There were a total of 176 passengers on the flight who were deboarded, reports said.
In a statement, IndiGo said, “IndiGo flight 6E2211 operating from Delhi to Varanasi had received a specific bomb threat at Delhi airport. All necessary protocols were followed and the aircraft was taken to a remote bay per airport security agencies’ guidelines.”
It further stated that all passengers were safely evacuated via the emergency exits. After all security checks are completed, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area, it added.
