Indigo Makes Emergency Landing In Bhubaneswar; Passenger Dies After ‘Stroke’
Bhubaneswar: Indigo flight 6E 822 from Kolkata to Bengaluru made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport here on Saturday morning after a patient’s condition deteriorated onboard.
The passenger, Rajkumar Karmakar, was under treatment at a hospital in Bengaluru and was flying back from home. He complained of uneasiness about 45 minutes after the take-off. According to his brother-in-law, who was travelling with him, Rajkumar had a ‘stroke’ after coming out of the toilet.
He was rushed to Capital Hospital here, where doctors declared him ‘brought’ dead.
Though the exact reason behind Rajkumar’s death is yet to be ascertained, his brother-in-law said that water used to accumulate in his stomach.
Following information, the Airfield Police rushed to the hospital.
The family members of the deceased have been informed about the incident. The postmortem of the deceased will be conducted once they arrive in the city, police said
Rajkumar’s father was scheduled to leave for Bengaluru from Kolkata in another flight later in the day. They hail from Malda in West Bengal.
