New Delhi: IndiGo has issued fresh travel advisory amid escalating tensions around Iran announcing cancellation of flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku and Tashkent until February 28. In a statement on Tuesday, the airline said the decision was taken in view of the ‘developing situation around Iran’ to ensure safety of passengers and crew.
Iran faces widespread unrest with protests against leadership over inflation and governance issues, marking one of its deadliest periods.
IndiGo first suspended flights to Tbilisi (Georgia), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and Baku (Azerbaijan) until January 28, 2026. This was extended to February 11, with no confirmed further prolongation to February 28 as of latest reports. Affected routes involve potential overflights near Iran, prompting proactive halts.
The airline urges passengers to check schedules via its website or app for refunds or rebookings. IndiGo emphasizes continuous monitoring with aviation authorities. Similar impacts hit Air India, canceling US-bound flights and issuing warnings.
