Bhubaneswar: With the budget session of the Odisha Assembly scheduled to commence on February 13, Speaker Surama Padhy underlined the need for discipline by opposition legislators.
While constructive suggestions from opposition members will be welcomed, disruptions or obstructions will not be tolerated, the Speaker told reporters. Any form of indiscipline by opposition members will not be tolerated during the session, she said.
Stating that the opposition parties should play a constructive role and provide suggestions during the session, Padhy said if they create ruckus or obstruction, it will not be tolerated in the Assembly during the upcoming session.
The third session of 17th Assembly will begin on February 13 and conclude on April 5. Chief Minister Majhi, who also holds Finance portfolio, will table the State Budget for 2025-26 on February 17. The general discussion on the Budget will be held on February 20 and 21 while the Appropriation Bill will be presented on March 29.
The Assembly session will begin with the address of Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu followed by the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address.
The Budget session of the Assembly will have total 28 business days as per the provisional calendar.
An all-party meeting will be called well before the commencement of the budget session.
