Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Dr R P Sharma on Friday stressed flawless joint operations against the Maoists with the rebels adopting new skills and building corridors at various places.
After a coordination meeting to deal with Red-menace in Odisha at his camp office here, Sharma said, “Police and other security forces are keeping a tight watch on their movements and the changing strategic patterns. Whenever pushed to the corner by security forces, the rebels tend to move to other areas and create newer corridors.”
The DGP said infrastructural issues and logistics were the major challenges being faced by the forces during anti-Maoist operations. “We discussed how soon we can address these issues to see that the operational forces are comfortable, their morale is high and they can conduct operation smoothly,” he informed.
Two more platoons of central forces are needed for operations in Maoist-affected areas, he added.
Besides the DGP, IGs of CRPF and BSF along with senior officials of Odisha Police were present in the meeting.
