Puri: An injured dolphin was rescued by the local fishermen near a slum under Chandrabhaga Marine police limits in Odisha’s Puri on Friday.
According to sources, the dolphin was washed ashore after being hit by a fishing trawler in the sea. “After being trapped in a fishing net, the dolphin was hit by the trawler. It had injuries on its head but was alive,” said a fisherman to local media.
However, the fishermen immediately released it into the sea. A sea of crowd flocked Chandrabhaga beach to witness the huge mammal.
It is pertinent to mention here that a dead dolphin had washed ashore on Pati Sonepur beach in Ganjam district on July 29.
