Baleshwar: Assets including 20 high-value land plots in Baleshwar town, two multi-storey residential houses, a sprawling five-acre farmhouse, and over Rs 2.77 lakh in cash were unearthed by Odisha Vigilance during simultaneous raids on properties linked to Executive Engineer Arabinda Mohanty on Monday.
The ongoing anti-corruption operation against Mohanty, currently posted in Betanoti R&B Sub-Division of Mayurbhanj district, follows allegations of accumulating assets far beyond his known income sources.
Acting on search warrants issued by the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada, teams comprising five DSPs, eight Inspectors, and supporting personnel launched coordinated searches across 10 locations in Baleshwar, Mayurbhanj, and Khordha districts.
Among the real estate properties uncovered are a 3,500-square-foot triple-storey residence in Angargadia (Baleshwar), an 1,800-square-foot double-storey house in Balianta (Khordha), and a five-acre farm estate in Basantapur (Baleshwar) with two fish ponds and a poultry
The search teams also seized a Brezza four-wheeler, two two-wheelers, and identified two bank lockers, one registered under his spouse’s name and another under an associate. While valuation assessments of the buildings and land plots are underway by the Vigilance Technical Wing, officials are also tracking down additional bank deposits and financial investments.
Raids were conducted at these following places:
Baleshwar District: A triple-storey residential building at Angargadia, a farmhouse at Basantapur, another house at Bamapada, and two properties belonging to close associates in Angargadia and Bamapada. His paternal residence at Rayan-Ramachandrapur in Jaleswar.
Mayurbhanj District: Mohanty’s office and residence at Betanoti, alongside the house of a close aide at Baisinga.
Khordha District: A double-storey residential building at Balianta.
Service Details
Born on December 28, 1966, Mohanty entered government service on August 4, 1997, as a Junior Engineer (JRY) at Betanoti block with an initial salary of Rss 5,000 a month. Over nearly three decades, he held various assignments across the state, including tenures at Idco Nabarangpur (1999–2005) and the Rural Development sections of Bahanaga and Soro under Baleshwar RD Division (2005–2012). Promoted to Assistant Engineer in 2013, he was posted at Boisingha, later moving to Mahidharpur in 2020 and Panikoili R&B Division in 2022. He was elevated to Assistant Executive Engineer in 2023 at Panikoili before returning to Betanoti in January 2025. Mohanty was promoted to Executive Engineer rank on September 29, 2026.
