Bhubaneswar: The Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, has achieved a unique milestone by conducting one lakh sample test for COVID-19 on RT-PCR mode.
Informing the media on Wednesday, ILS director Ajay Parida complemented the efforts of the ILS team in achieving the milestone and acknowledged the support of the state government and the Department of Biotechnology.
He said that the ILS has carried out genome sequencing of 225 viral strains and established 17 pure virus cultures to identify and develop potential drug targets.
While the Health and Family Welfare Department has complemented the ILS for its outstanding effort, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has appreciated the institute for its stellar role in containing the spread of the pandemic.
