Intense Spells Of Rain In 4 Odisha Dists Till 7PM; Yellow Alert For Cuttack City

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warning for several districts of Odisha, including Cuttack city, till 7.15 pm on Wednesday.

According to the weather agency, moderate rain/thundershower with one or two intense spells of rain is likely in some parts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Gajapati. It has warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas and occasional poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban areas.

Yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning has been issued for some parts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal and Cuttack, including Cuttack city. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

Earlier, it had issued a similar warning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, Dhenkenal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda and Cuttack, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 4.15 pm.

There is also a forecast for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) at isolated places in Malakangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts till 8.30 am on Thursday.
