International Women’s Day: Odisha Police Gives A Novel Salute To Female Cops
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police took to Twitter on International Women’s Day on Sunday to express gratitude to women cops for their tireless services in maintaining law and order.
In a novel way, Odisha Police tweeted photographs of all the female personnel who are posted as inspector or officer-in-charge at various police stations in Odisha.
Women cops account for 9.48 per cent of the police force in the state. Women cops have manned the state police at various capacities. The proportion of women cops at the super -supervisory (DGP-DSP) grade has been 2.5 per cent; whereas the proportion at the levels of investigating officers and constabulary stood at 7.5 per cent and 5.2 per cent, respectively.
The she-cops have left a trailblazer of successful policing in Odisha. In recognition of their stellar performance, Odisha DGP Abhay’s novel gesture for women cops in the state has won plaudits from all. The DGP has also lauded the efforts of women personnel in improving the functioning of police stations.
As per reports, as many as 103 police stations in the state are headed by female cops, and the number is comparably quite higher than other states in the country.
Earlier, at a state-level conference of women police held in Cuttack, Abhay announced a paln by Odisha police to recruit 50 per cent women officers in future.
On the occasion, senior police officials also made an observation regarding all-out efforts made to resolve several issues pertaining to women officers and personnel, so that they can discharge their duties in a more efficient way.
