Bhubaneswar: Around 200 students, including those from overseas, from different institutes of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University took part in a colourful programme to mark International Yoga Day here on Friday.
Faculty members and senior professors joined the event, which was conducted by NSS Programme Officers Dr Saroj Mohanty, Dr Shyamalendu Tripathy, Kumar Sambhav Giri and Dr Mou Roy.
The celebration commenced early in the morning with professional instructor Akhil Chandra Rana conducting a yoga session.
Eminent neuro-surgeon and Principal Advisor (Health Sciences) to SOA Prof. (Dr) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Additional Programme Coordinator Dr Kamal Lochan Mahanta and Youth Officer, NSS Bhubaneswar Ajit Kushwaha were among dignitaries who attended the event.
They spoke about how yoga could help the young generation to become physically and mentally fit, as well as improve their power of concentration.
