New Delhi: International Yoga Day is just a day away. On June 21, people all over the world will engage in yoga practice and make India proud.

The Ministry of Tourism has planned weeklong celebrations of the day. This includes social media activities on the theme of ‘Yoga @ home and yoga with family’. The whole world is under the attack of Coronavirus, thus, practicing yoga with family in the comfort of the home seems a promising thing to do, said an official statement.

The social media posts will also encourage citizens to practice the art of Yoga by collaborating with various fitness enthusiasts who will teach different asanas through videos and photographs.

The Tourism Ministry is set to take part in a special session on ‘Bharat: A Cultural Treasure’ under Dekho Apna Desh webinar on June 20, which will promote India’s rich culture under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme. Minister of Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel will lead the conversation with special guest speaker Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The panel will also host experts like fashion designer Anita Dongre, chef Ranveer Brar, OYO’s CEO Ritesh Aggarwal, and many more.

The webinar will be telecast live on Incredible India’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. Moreover, the ministry is also running a ‘My Life My Yoga’ contest where people can share their videos doing Yoga at home with friends and family members.

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi in a video message asked the citizens to use Yoga as a medium to fight various challenges posed by the pandemic. He said,” These are times of distancing. But do you know that Yoga is what ends distance.” Yoga can end the distance between the mind and the body and expectations and reality, he added.
