Mayurbhanj: Fire Services officials had a tough time tackling a habitual drinker at Basipitha village under Khunta police station limits Saturday afternoon.
Sundar Mohan Singh’s son Jagannath created a commotion under the impact of liquor by climbing a water tank at Basipitha Square after a tussle with his family members.
Earllier, the drunken youth had a brawl with his relatives over a family matter before he came out of his house. The locals who spotted the intoxicated youth hanging precariously atop the 70-ft high water tank tried to rescue him, but to no avail.
On being informed, Fire Services personnel led by officer Bijay Kumar Nayak reached the village square and brought Jagannath down safely. Fire service Havildar Gopinath Nayak and fireman Nagen Hembram took part in the rescue operation much to the relief of the worried villagers.
