Investigation Into Delhi Cops’ Photo Session With Murder-Accused Sushil Kumar
New Delhi: Delhi Police has launched an inquiry after pictures of some police personnel posing with murder-accused wrestler Sushil Kumar went viral.
The two-time Olympic medallist, who was arrested in connection with the fatal assault on young wrestler Sagar Rana last month, was on Friday shifted from Mandoli jail to Tihar jail as his judicial custody was extended till July 9. When he was being shifted, some cops of Delhi Armed Police had a photo session with Sushil.
Keeping in mind a possible security threat to Sushil, a team of the special cell was asked to be present with police personnel of 3rd battalion.
“After reaching Mandoli jail, they started clicking pictures with the accused (Sushil). Police personnel of the 3rd battalion have been asked to share pictures of high-risk prisoners with their seniors so that they can monitor their activities. However, on Friday, apart from sharing the photos with their seniors, the cops on duty started sharing pictures on their official WhatsApp groups, and with their relatives,” The Indian Express quoted a police source as saying.
