IOCL Seeks Action Against Hooligans Disrupting Laying Of Oil Pipeline
Bhubaneswar: The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) has urged the Odisha Police to initiate action against anti-social elements, disrupting laying of oil pipelines.
In this connection, a five-member team of IOCL officials led by Director, Pipeline Division, PC Chaube arrived at the office of the State Crime Branch here on Wednesday for a meeting with the Odisha Crime Branch Special Task Force (STF) officials.
“We had come here to inform them about anti-social elements who are hindering laying of oil pipelines from Paradip Oil Refinery to Ranchi in Jharkhand via Chhattisgarh and there are reports of pilferage of materials used for the purpose. We requested them to take action against these hooligans and cooperate with the IOCL in the smooth laying of the pipelines. We are hopeful of harsh action against them,” Chaube told mediapersons after the meeting.
Asked whether the team had any discussion with the STF over providing licence to the arrested gangster Tito to set up a filling station in Kendrapara district, Chaube said this is a different matter.
“We had come here to inform the officials about disruptions in the laying of oil pipelines. There was no discussion about the arrested gangster,” he pointed out.
