IPL 2020 Guidelines: BCCI Prohibits Entry Of Media In Stadium
Mumbai: Just before the start of IPL 13, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that media will not be allowed in the stadium to cover the matches. This is being done to adhere to strict health safety protocols for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The order came following the issuance of BBCI’s match coverage guidelines on Friday. According to the guidelines, there will be no press conference prior to the match while a virtual media briefing will be held after all matches.
However, the BCCI allowed the media registrations for UAE media only.
“The Dream 11 Indian Premier League 2020 is being held in a closed stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Given the health and safety protocol, media personnel will not be allowed inside the stadium to cover the match or to cover the team’s practice session,” BCCI said in a statement.
The BCCI said that it understands the interest level for the league and the reason it arranged the virtual press conference after every match, which is mandatory. However, journalists registered with the cricket board will continue to get press releases and regular updates before and after each fixture.
IPL 13 is going to start tonight (September 19) and will conclude on November 10 in the United Arab Emirates.
