IPL 2022 Auction: Ishant Sharma ‘Unsold’ Status Triggers Meme Fest On Twitter
Bengaluru: Chetan Sakariya was sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 4.2 crore, which was 3.5 times more than his price in 2021, as bidding for capped pacers began on the second day of the IPL 2022 mega auction here on Sunday. His base price was Rs 50 lakh.
Khaleel Ahmed, who had set his base price to be 50 lakhs, saw Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals make the bids. Delhi Capitals finally bagged him for 5.25 crore.
Delhi Capitals, however, gave Ishant Sharma a miss and no other franchise also bid for him. Many attributed him remaining unsold to his high base price of Rs 1.5 crore. The right-arm fast-medium bowler was with Delhi Capitals earlier for Rs 1.1 crore.
It was a double whammy for Ishan as he is all set to skip playing Ranji Trophy this season for Delhi. Reports suggest senior members of the Indian team have conveyed to Ishant that they will be looking to groom younger players for the Test squad going forward.
