London: Indian businessman and IPL founder Lalit Modi took to social media on Thursday to announce his relationship with 1994 Miss Universe and Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen.
“Just back in london after a whirling global tour #maldives # sardinia with the families – not to mention my #betterhalf @sushmitasen47 – a new beginning a new life finally. Over the moon,” Lalit tweeted along with pictures of the duo on Thursday evening.
As netizens congratulated the ‘newly married’ couple, Lalit posted another tweet to clarify that they were ‘not married — just dating each other’.
“That too will happen one day,” Lalit wrote.
The 46-year-old Sushmita broke up with boyfriend Rohman Shawl (30) last December after dating for three years.
Lalit, on the other hand, was married to Minal Modi for 27 years before losing his wife to cancer in December 2018. Lalit and Minal, who was 10 years his senior, raised two children – Ruchir and Aliya.
The couple had made London their home following the former IPL chairman’s suspension from the BCCI, shortly after 2010 IPL ended, after being accused of misconduct, indiscipline and financial irregularities.
Following an investigation, BCCI banned him for life in 2013. Before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) could launch an investigation against him for alleged financial irregularities, Modi moved to London.
