Patanjali will step into the fray for the IPL title sponsorship only if there are no other candidates, clarified Baba Ramdev.
“It’s too early to talk about it as Patanjali will only come to the forefront if other Indian corporate houses don’t make any bid for the IPL title sponsorship,” the Yoga guru, brainchild behind Patanjali, was quoted as saying by The Hindustan Times.
Exactly a week ago, a Patanjali spokesperson had said the company was thinking of bidding for the title sponsorship of the 2020 edition of the T20 league which had fallen vacant after the pullout of Chinese smart phone makers Vivo.
Five companies had reportedly shown interest after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had invited ‘Expression of Interest’ for the title sponsorship of the tournament to be played in the UAE from September 19.
The BCCI is expected to open the final bids on August 18 and announce this year’s title sponsor.
Tata Sons are learnt to be the frontrunners. The others in the fray are Byju’s, Reliance Jio, Dream11 and Unacademy.
