Tehran: Iran announced on Saturday that it executed precision strikes on two purported US Army “hideouts” in Dubai, intensifying the spiraling conflict across West Asia, according to Iranian state media Fars News Agency.
A spokesperson for the Central Headquarters of Hazrat Khatam al-Anbiya told Fars News Agency that US army personnel had relocated to these secretive sites following Iran’s earlier assaults on American bases in the region. The spokesperson specified that over 500 US Army personnel occupied the hideouts—approximately 400 in the first location and 100 in the second, as reported by The Tribune.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) pinpointed these positions and launched targeted missile and drone attacks, resulting in heavy casualties, the spokesperson asserted, crediting Fars News Agency.
The spokesperson further declared: “Trump and the commanders of the US Army must have fully understood that the region will turn into a graveyard for American soldiers, and they will have no choice but to surrender to the divine will of the heroic people and the brave warriors of Islam.”
In response, the Pentagon plans to dispatch troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, a CBS report indicated, citing a source familiar with the planning. The deployment includes a command element alongside ground forces to bolster regional operations.
US is also considering a potential ground assault on Iran’s Kharg Island, which processes nearly 90% of the country’s crude oil exports. Iranian forces have countered by deploying mines and reinforcements to the strategic outpost.
Meanwhile, a CNN report, citing unnamed sources, revealed that Iran has rigged the island with traps, including anti-personnel and anti-armour mines, to thwart any US amphibious landings. The Trump administration is evaluating a troop-led seizure of the island as leverage to compel Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
