Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has restated Tehran’s conditions for de-escalation in the West Asia conflict, now in its 13th day, amid stalled peace efforts.
Addressing leaders of Russia and Pakistan on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said Iran remains committed to regional peace if demands are met: international guarantees against future US and Israeli attacks, recognition of Iran’s rights, and reparations.
“Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region,” he posted on X.
“The only way to end this war — ignited by the Zionist regime & US — is recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of, and firm int’l guarantees against future aggression,” he added.
The war began February 28 with US-Israel Operation Epic Fury, after military buildup and failed regional diplomacy. Initial strikes killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei but failed to trigger regime change. Iran is now led by his hardliner son, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
Iran rejects ceasefire talks. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, ex-Revolutionary Guards commander, posted on X: “Certainly we aren’t seeking a ceasefire. We believe the aggressor must be punished and taught a lesson that will deter them from attacking Iran again.”
US President Donald Trump has mixed messages, refusing timelines but claiming victory is near. “The military operation is way ahead of schedule, and there is practically nothing left to target in Iran,” he said.
US strikes have dealt irreversible blows to Iran’s military, nuclear programme, Ayatollah regime, and IRGC, yet core structures survive.
Earlier US listed four objectives. First: Nuclear Neutralisation — destroying enrichment facilities and research to ensure Iran “never obtain(s] a nuclear weapon.”
With neither side showing signs of relenting, the fighting continues.
