Tehran: Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Saturday threatened to target multiple cities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), directly accusing the US of staging its recent bombing of Kharg Island from “ports, docks and hideouts” inside those cities.
The IRGC’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued the warning without naming specific targets, escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
“The IRGC considers it its legitimate right to defend its national sovereignty and territory by hitting and targeting the origin of the American enemy missiles in shipping ports, docks, and hideouts of American soldiers sheltered in some cities in the UAE,” the group stated on Iranian state media, as reported by Al Jazeera.
The threat follows President Trump’s Friday strike, which he hailed in a Truth Social post as “one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East.”
Trump said the US “obliterated” every military target on the vital economic outpost without touching oil infrastructure “for reasons of decency.”
He warned: “However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision.”
The assault came a day after Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, ordered the closure of the Strait of Hormuz — chokepoint for 20% of global oil and gasoline exports — amid escalating US-Israeli operations since February 28.
US gas prices hit $3.68 per gallon on Saturday morning, up 5 cents from Friday, according to reports.
