Iran’s ‘Zombie Angelina’ Lookalike Contracts Coronavirus, Fights For Life In Jail
Tehran: When 22-year-old Iranian Sahar Tabar posted several images of herself edited in such a way to make her resemble Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, she gained a huge following on Instagram. Some of the pictures showed her wearing white and grey make-up, photoshopped to give her face and arms an eerie look.
Tabar, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand, soon landed in jail, being arrested on charges of blasphemy and encouraging youths to corruption.
And now, she is battling for life in jail after contracting coronavirus, being on ventilator.
Lawyers for Tabar have argued that she should be released, but she has been denied bail thus far.
Iran last month released 85,000 prisoners with the objective of slowing the spread of novel coronavirus in the country.
Over 20,000 positive coronavirus cases have been reported in Iran so far. Nearly 5000 have succumbed to the global pandemic.
