Digapahandi: An enforcement team, including the Tehsildar, was allegedly manhandled when it went to Tikarpada village here in Ganjam district to stop Ganesh Puja celebration on Saturday night.
According to sources, the enforcement team, on being intimated about the celebration of Ganesh Puja in the village, went to stop it in view of the COVID-19 guidelines. The situation turned violent in no time as the villagers ransacked the police vehicle and detained the tehsildar and the enforcement team members for three hours.
Later, senior police officers pacified the agitators and rescued them.
