Puri: After inspection by a three-member team of Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) from Roorkee, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Tuesday said that the iron scaffoldings at Sun Temple in Konark will soon be removed.
The team led by scientist Siddharth Behera, accompanied by an engineering team of ASI, inspected the Garbha Gruha (sanctum sanctorum) and outer walls of the temple.
According the sources, all the iron scaffoldings put up outside the walls will be removed in two months.
“The CBRI has been studying the temple structure for many years to identify the problems and find possible solutions. The process of removing the scaffoldings will be completed in the coming months,” said ASI Superintendent, Arun Mallick.
The numerous scaffoldings, which were set up for chemical cleaning of upper portion of the monument, were dislocated in the recent Cyclone Fani.
