Is Actor Vijay Varma Eyeing Hollywood?
Mumbai: Nepotism and discrimination in Bollywood means some talented actors who are not star kids often get raw deals.
However, not all of these ‘less privileged’ actors are ready to let their talent go waste. They eye opportunities elsewhere, and many of them look West.
After Priyanka Chopra, Ishaan Khatter and Ali Fazal, it’s Vijay Varma who is looking for an opening in Hollywood.
During a one-on-one with Variety, Vijay said that he is quite fascinated by the “colour-blind casting” practice in the West and the way Indian actors are being cast in big projects, irrespective of their ethnicity.
“It’s a very good time to make that jump. With more acceptance that is coming in by the international producers, directors looking at Indian diaspora actors, brown actors in a variety of roles, it’s a very lucrative time,” said Vijay.
He admitted that right now he is focusing on choosing projects that will help him grow as an actor and make his fans happy.
Vijay’s recent thriller ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ drew a lot appreciation.
Some of Vijay’s projects include ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Murder Mubarak’, ‘Manto’, ‘Gully Boy’ and ‘Darling’.
