New Delhi: After losing the Delhi polls, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was now trying to remove Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann and eying his post, claimed BJP MLA Majinder Singh Sira. The MLA, who won the Rajouri Garden constituency by 18,190 votes in last week’s Assembly election, shared a video message on social media slamming Kejriwal for calling a meeting of Punjab MLAs in Delhi.
“After losing the Delhi elections, Arvind Kejriwal has called a meeting of Punjab MLAs in Delhi. Reports suggest that he is trying to remove Bhagwant Mann Ji from the CM post by branding him as incompetent. Kejriwal has failed to fulfil his promise of giving ₹1000 to women and is unsuccessful in curbing drug abuse. He has worsened Punjab’s situation. Now, he wants to put all failure blames on Bhagwant Mann. He is making AAP Punjab MLAs say that Kejriwal is a ‘good man’ and should be made Chief Minister instead!” Singh claimed.

Arvind Kejriwal is likely to hold a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, state ministers and MLAs in Delhi on February 11. The AAP sources said that the meeting would focus on discussions about the Delhi election results and preparations for the upcoming Punjab elections in 2027.
This came after the AAP suffered a massive setback, securing only 22 seats in the 70-member Delhi assembly. The BJP secured 48 seats and is set to form the government in the national capital.
Delhi CM Swearing-In Likely After PM Modi’s US Visit,
Meanwhile, the swearing-in ceremony for Delhi’s new Chief Minister is expected to take place only after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his visit to the United States on February 12-13, media reports claim. The oath-taking ceremony is unlikely to be scheduled before February 15.
With Modi’s diplomatic commitments in Washington, including his first meeting with US President Donald Trump since the start of Trump’s second term, the BJP is likely to finalize government formation plans upon his return.
The BJP is set to form the next government in Delhi, party leaders are engaged in closed-door discussions to finalize their choice for Chief Minister. Notably, the party campaigned without naming a CM candidate, but several senior leaders have now emerged as frontrunners for the position.
Will BJP consider a woman CM for Delhi?
According to a report, among the top contenders is Parvesh Verma, who delivered a stunning victory by defeating Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency. Other key names in the race include Vijender Gupta, a former Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly; Satish Upadhyay, a prominent Brahmin leader and former state BJP president; Ashish Sood, the party’s Delhi general secretary; and Jitendra Mahajan, an RSS-backed leader from the Vaishya community.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated that the final decision would be made by the party’s central leadership. There is also speculation that the BJP may consider appointing a woman as Chief Minister. Rekha Gupta and Shikha Roy may be considered for CM post, leaders said. Shikha Roy defeated AAP bigwig Saurabh Bharadwaj from the Greater Kailash constituency with a margin of 3,188 votes. Meanwhile, Rekha Gupta emerged victorious against AAP’s Bandana Kumari from the Shalimar Bagh assembly seat with a margin of over 29,000 votes.
