New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has clarified that people driving a car with none else in the vehicle don’t need to wear masks and won’t be penalized.
“There is no such directive from the health ministry on wearing a mask when a person is in a car alone; if you are exercising in a group you need a mask but there is no directive to wear one if you are cycling alone,” said Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.
There have been instances of police issuing challans to people for not wearing masks while being alone in their cars.
Recently, Chairman of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and Padma Bhusan awardee Dr D Nageshwar Reddy said that 90 per cent effect of lockdown will be achieved if everyone wears a mask.
