Bhubaneswar: Olympian from Odisha Dutee Chand posted a photo on her official social media accounts with her long-time girlfriend, Monalisa, wearing celebratory attire that sparked rumours of her wedding on Friday.
Monalisa was seen in a dark blue embroidered traditional lehenga, while Dutee wore a navy blue formal suit.
She penned a heartwarming note on her Twitter account, “loved you yesterday, loved you still, always have always will” and posted the same photo on Instagram with the caption “Love is love.”
Fans took to the comments section to congratulate the couple on their wedding.
The picture, sources later claimed, was taking Dutee’s sister Anjana’s wedding. She had posted a series of pictures from the wedding on her Instagram account.
Dutee was the first Indian athlete to announce being in a same-sex relationship with Monalisa in 2019 and made headlines. Although Dutee did not get any support from her family for her life choices, she chose to settle down with her partner.
Chand had also stated earlier that she was unaware of the LGTQ movement when she acknowledged her relationship.
Recently, she participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 which was aired on Colors TV, and dedicated one of her performances to Monalisa in one of the episodes. After the performance, Dutee also received a surprise video call from her partner.
