Amritsar: After two bike-borne assailants hurled a hand grenade at a temple in Amritsar’s Khandwala, cops in Punjab are investigating Pakistan links to the attack. The grenade attack on the Thakurdwara temple was captured on CCTV during the wee hours of Saturday. None has been reported injured in the incident. But it has led to panic among locals.
The footage shows the duo on a motorcycle carrying a flag. They briefly stopped outside the temple before hurling an object towards its premises. Moments later, a powerful explosion rocked the area. Despite being inside the temple at the time of attack, the priest escaped unhurt.

“Pakistan engages in such mischievous acts from time to time,” Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Bhullar said, as quoted by India Today. “We are actively investigating and making efforts to arrest the accused. The nature of the explosive is yet to be verified,” he added.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann claimed efforts were being made from time to time to disturb Punjab by ‘some mischievous elements.’
On the possible Pakistan angle, Mann reportedly said that Pakistan was regularly pushing drones. “Why would they (Pakistan) want Punjab to be at peace?” Mann added. Probe is underway.
