Mumbai: Reports of a fallout between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar had surfaced in 2021. It has now been learnt that Vikrant Massey has bagged Kartik’s role in ‘Dostana 2.’
“Dostana 2 has been in development at Dharma for a while, and the makers have cracked a perfect script that can carry the franchise forward in a progressive manner. Dostana 2 will feature Vikrant Massey with Lakshya, and will mark the launch pad of a debutant as the female lead. The makers are aiming to take the film on floors in January 2026, and release in the end of next year,” an insider from the industry told Pinkvilla.
“Dostana 2 is being conceptualized as a theatrical film, with music, comedy, romance, and drama. Talks are on with filmmakers, and a director will be locked in a fortnight,” the source added.
Reports also suggest that Jahnvi Kapoor, the initial choice for the film, will be replaced by a fresh face.
‘Dostana 2’ will also feature ‘Porus’-fame actor Lakshya.
For the unversed, Kartik walked out of Karan’s ‘Dostana 2’ in 2021 citing professional differences, whereas reports suggested that the actor’s unprofessionalism irked the filmmaker.
Eventually, Dharma Productions made an official announcement that the film’s cast would be reconsidered.
