Bhubaneswar: The Iskcon temple in the city has been awarded BHOG certification of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
The FSSAI had launched project Blissful Hygienic Offering to God (BHOG) with an aim to ensure safety of the prasad offered to devotees in places of worship.
In order to get the BHOG certification for its temple in Bhubaneswar, the Iskcon authorities sought the help of the office of the Commissioner of Food Safety, Odisha. As per the commissioner’s advice, they complied with all the requirements of the Food Safety Standard Act of 2006.
They took up hygienic practices in preparing the prasad while following the COVID guidelines and strictures. As per the guidance manual of BHOG, they implemented food safety on the temple premises and used fortified staples like ghee, oil, rice, flour and milk while preparing prasad.
These initiatives helped the Iskcon bag the BHOG certification by FSSAI after stringent auditing evaluation, a release of the temple stated.
