Bambolim (Goa): Odisha FC suffered their third defeat in four matches in ISL-7 as they went down 0-2 to Mumbai FC at GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Sunday.
Odisha FC have a solitary point in their kitty after four matches, thanks to a come-from-behind 2-2 stalemate with Jamshedpur FC.
Mumbai City FC, on the other hand, notched up their third win in a row after losing their season opener.
Sergio Lobera-coached Mumbai, who are top of the table on better goal difference than ATK Mohun Bagan, dominated proceedings from the word go and ensured a comfortable two-goal cushion in the first session itself.
Bartholomew Ogbeche scored the opening goal by converting a penalty in the 30th minute, while Rowllin Borges doubled Mumbai’s lead with a header in the 45th minute.
Odisha FC were unlucky as early as in the fourth minute, when Brazilian Diego Mauricio’s free-kick from just outside the box hit the crossbar.
Four minutes after Mumbai went one up, Mourtada Fall’s headed ‘goal’ was disallowed for a foul on Odisha goalkeeper Kamaljit Singh, who had to be taken off the pitch following a collision.
Odisha brought in Marcelo Pereira in the second half, but the Brazilian failed to make much of an impact. His best effort, a long-ranger, missed the target narrowly in the closing minutes.
