Bhubaneswar: A senior health official of the Odisha government on Monday said that patients detected with the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19 should be isolated to bring down the rate of infection.
“Seven Delta Plus variants have so far been identified in the country. We cannot say right now whether the new variant will penetrate the community. As the number of those infected is very less, we will be able to prevent its spread if patients are identified early and isolated,” Director Medical Education and Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty told the mediapersons.
Talking about the impact of COVID-19, Mohanty said that the condition of the patient depends on the stages of the virus in the body.
“The virus severely damages the vital organs which are identified in a later stage,” he added.
Mohanty also said that several factors contribute to the recovery of a COVID patient. “Some patients completely recover while others either develop post-COVID complications or die,” he pointed out.
