Mumbai: The Alia Bhatt-starrer ‘Jigra’, which released in theatres last year, failed miserably at the box-office and became a butt of all jokes.
Breaking her silence on the poor performance of the film, Alia told Jay Shetty on his podcast that ‘Jigra’s failure has given her a ‘new vigour for a new dream.’
“I’m a very passionate actor, professional, producer. I’m passionate about that. I have dreams with regard to my work, which I don’t think ever end. I don’t think I’m ever comfortable, and I really like that about my mind. I had a film released last year that didn’t do really well, and that’s given me a new vigour for a new dream to try and do over. It’s something I feel very charged by. So that’s the professional dream,” Alia said.
Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions and presented by Viacom18 Studios and Eternal Sunshine Productions, the film released during Dussehra.
Soon after its release, actress Divya Khossla Kumar alleged that the theatres were running empty and accused Alia of manipulating the box-office numbers to deceive the public.
Divya also slammed filmmaker Karan Johar for copying the storyline of her film ‘Savi.’
Besides Alia, the film also starred Vedang Raina and Manoj Pahwa in key roles.
Directed by Vasan Bala, the film revolved around a sister (played by Alia) who moves heaven and earth to rescue her brother (played by Vedang) from foreign land.
Meanwhile, Alia will be next seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’ alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
